Dan’s connection to Glen Brook started many years ago as a third grader when his class at The Waldorf School of Garden City visited for a week to make apple cider, dig for potatoes, spin wool, and collect eggs from the chicken coop. He was hooked as a nine year old and has been coming back over the years ever since. He’s thrilled to serve the camp now as Youth Program Director.
After graduating from The Waldorf School of Garden City, Dan earned his B.S. in environmental science and philosophy from the University of Scranton, in Scranton, PA. He has many years of experience as an educator in various non-profit organizations, in Waldorf schools, and in the United States Peace Corps. He received his Waldorf Teacher Certificate from Antioch University and worked as a Waldorf teacher for over a decade.
Dan believes deeply in how Glen Brook can help us feel at home in the world, at home in ourselves, and at home with each other. This sense of belonging weaves through all of our camp activities – playing meadow games, doing chores, singing camp songs, gardening in Gabriel’s Field, climbing up the ropes course, and hiking Mt. Monadnock. Having experienced Glen Brook in this way as a young person, Dan is grateful to have the chance to bring these experiences to new generations of campers and students who visit this special hilltop in New Hampshire.
