Glen Brook and Waldorf education (which I went to from K-12) had a big effect on who I am today.I have been coming to Glen Brook since I was nine. I still remember my counselor and CIT, and how they interacted with my group. I’ve been in the shoes of a fox camper, so I will be able to harness that experience and apply it to everything we do together. I will be teaching nature classes to the foxes through my love of games and the outdoors.
Hi! My name is Isabella, but I go by Bella! I use she/her pronouns. This summer, I’ll be helping take care of the Foxes as their CIT. I was a camper in 2016 and have such fond memories of my time here, now that I am returning as a counselor this year! I am a lifelong Waldorf student, former Glenbrook camper, and aspiring teacher who loves spending time outdoors and working with children. I chose to work at Glenbrook this summer as a counselor because the inclusive environment, diverse curriculum of activities, collaborative community building, and creative outdoor learning emulate the values and qualities I was raised with and want to foster in my work with children. I have a lot to share with Glenbrook this year. I have a lot of experience working with children both in the familial, school, and camp setting and so want to bring this experience to my work here this summer. I also have a lot of experience both learning and working in a Waldorf environment so am well versed in the values, qualities, and skills that philosophy strives to convey with the world. And above all, I come with lots of love in my heart to be here and to be a part of this community and so want to share that love and gratitude with everyone I meet this summer: campers, staff, and families alike, to welcome them into the nurturing Glenbrook community fold.

Camp Glen Brook has provided me with a home away from home and a space to embrace the natural world in all aspects of daily life. The values that Glen Brook holds near and dear are similar to mine and the mission to “leave the world a little better than the way we found it” is the perfect framework for Camp Glen Brook summer camp. My own interests include playing the guitar and cello, as well as photography and generally being outside. I currently attend SUNY Albany, where I am pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science and Applied Math. I have lots of experience with creating art and attending art classes, and I also enjoy working with young people.
My name is Sydney, my pronouns are she/her. I am the performance teacher. This summer I will be teaching campers the fundamentals of acting and performing through collaborative games and exercises. We will work with improvisation, talking and listening, abstraction and more, which will all lead to the campers devising their own piece of theatre to take home with them. This is my first year as a staff member at Glen Brook, however I am a former Summer and Winter camper, and have been coming to Glen Brook through The Waldorf School of Garden City on class trips since I was very young. For me, Glen Brook has become a second home and a sort of respite from the fast-paced environment of New York City, where I am currently attending college. The combination of the environment, the people, and strong sense of community have made Glen Brook a place I want to come back to for as long as I can. I hope to share my passion, my energy, and love for theatre with the campers and staff. I also aim to teach compassion and empathy through storytelling in hopes that the campers will leave with more understanding, acceptance, and love to bring to their communities.

Six years later, I’m back for the first time as a counselor. Glen Brook embodies the qualities of an engaged and caring community. After over a year of social distancing and relative disconnection from friends and families, I wanted to participate in growing the supportive community I felt as a camper. I am excited to share my love of music and nature with camp this summer, and to work to inspire a sense of communal responsibility in the ways we work and play.
