Alicia was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, but traveled so frequently up to New York with her parents that it quickly became her second home. At 17, she moved to Mexico for college and two years into her degree, she stumbled into a job in a Waldorf school in her area; first as a shadow teacher, and later on as assistant teacher in that same classroom.
Coming from a traditional educational background, stepping into Waldorf felt like breathing fresh air for the first time. The rhythm, warmth, and intention behind the work reconnected her to a sense of purpose she didn’t realize she was missing.
During her time working with Mixed Age Kindergartens and early grades, she discovered how natural it feels for her to support children in environments filled with intention, gentleness, and imagination where they are able to explore the world around them; which she says is exactly why she fell in love with Glen Brook.
She is super excited to not only keep discovering all the magic that surrounds the camp, but to be able to share it with all the children that stay with us!
