Position: Health Care Assistant
Location: Camp Glen Brook: Marlborough, NH
We are seeking our health care assistant to assist our Camp Nurse for Summer Camp 2025.
This person supports the health and well-being of the camp. This person assists our Camp Nurse, who is responsible for all health needs of the camp population for the week of Staff Training and the seven weeks of camp. Our camp population includes campers grades 3-11 and all staff.
The position of health care assistant involves administering regular medication, supporting the treatment of injury and illness, being ‘on call’ several nights a week, covering for the Camp Nurse’s day off, and supporting MESH needs of the camp community.
In addition to compensation, the health care assistant receives full room and wholesome board, and tuition remission for children attending Camp.
Responsibilities:
- Care for the camp population’s health needs with thoughtfulness and kindness.
- Help administer evening meds, and be on call several nights per week.
- Help assess camp population for condition of health upon arrival at camp and administer care accordingly.
- Document incidents, illnesses, and treatments appropriately and in a timely manner in the electronic record.
- Help to maintain a clean orderly environment for administering health care to the camp
- Help to maintain inventory of supplies, and first aid kits.
- Work cooperatively with and communicate with all departments to ensure camp and camper safety throughout camp duration.
- Maintain communication with camper population families as needed.
- Provide support for out-of-camp visits to medical offices, picking up prescriptions, etc.
- Assist camp Trips by preparing documents (health forms) and supplies (medications and first aid kit) for groups that will be leaving camp as directed.
- Comply with HIPAA, American Camping Association, and New Hampshire State regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Integrity, maturity, responsibility, good character, and good judgment.
- Enthusiasm, patience, problem solving skills, self-control, and discretion with personal and confidential information.
- Training and/or experience in managing health and safety required with strong preference given to candidates with educational training in health services. Minimum requirement of current First Aid and CPR certification. Prefer WFA, WFR or licensed EMT, RN or LPN in the State of New Hampshire, or a reciprocal state participating in the national consortium.
- The ability to lift 25 pounds
- Experience and confidence in working with individuals ages 9+.
- Must speak fluent English.
