Our Staff
Glen Brook’s 30 summer staff members, many alumni
themselves, are a mix of experienced teachers, parents,
and enthusiastic 
college students. Most
of our key staff
have been here for years. About 20% of our counselors are international visitors
from around the world. Twain Braden is the fourth director in 63 years. He
started coming to Glen Brook as a student of the Waldorf School of Garden City,
N.Y., while in fifth grade. Counselors are selected first and foremost because
they love to teach children and have been successful doing so. They are strong individuals whom
our campers can look to for guidance and friendship, and admire as role models.
The fact that they might also be a star tennis player or a gifted artist is a
welcome bonus. Our staff receives ongoing training in teaching effectiveness,
camper behavior issues, cabin management, emergency procedures, and child safety
issues, both physical and emotional.
