The Waldorf School of Garden City's 3rd Grade class just had their first class trip to Glen Brook. We spent this beautiful fall week taking care of the animals, harvesting food from the garden, learning to build shelters in the woods, learning to milk cows, and learning how to live together and help care for Glen Brook. On Thursday, we spent the day preparing our harvest meal. We pressed apple cider and churned ice cream; we made apple crisp; we kneaded and baked bread in our wood fired brick oven; and we prepared a delicious harvest stew. Many said it was the best meal they had ever had, and it certainly tasted better after all our hard work went into it.
We are glad to have met this class, and look forward to having them for their next twelve trips to come!
