Yesterday, the Raccoons returned from Wilgus State Park after a few days of paddling and hiking the Connecticut River Valley, and the Falcons departed for the White Mountains for a five-day backpacking trip; today the Eagles also depart for the White Mountains for a three-day hike. Hot weather has returned. This morning, as campers board the bus for Blueberry Hill, the weather report is calling for temperatures to be in the 90s. Each year the counselors challenge the children to a picking contest. Many groups pick over 10 pounds apiece. We'll have blueberry pancakes tomorrow, no doubt, probably followed by blueberry muffins, blueberry pies, and just about anything the cooks can think to put blueberries in. Our skin will turn blue.
