Summer Employment Opportunties:
Most summer positions at Glen Brook are residential with counselors living on campus for one week of staff training and six weeks of camp. Our camp sessions are either three or six weeks long with children staying overnight. Counselors usually bunk in separate rooms but are in charge of supervising the children at night.
We have openings for counselors with the following skills and certifications (if applicable): swim instruction, lifeguards, canoeing and kayaking, archery, arts and crafts, woodworking, nature, ropes course, music and drama, general sports, ceramics, farming and gardening.
In addition to counselor jobs we also hire: one head arts and crafts teacher, one performance teacher, and one woodshop teacher. These positions require applicants to have strong leadership, teaching, and organizational abilities. Because of the full load of teaching that these positions require there are no evening camper group responsibilities.
Finally, Camp Glen Brook hires staff for our Wilderness trips programs. We hire five staff per summer: One Trip Coordinator, and four leaders. The four leaders must have a clean driving record, strong leadership skills, experience leading youth in the back country, and strong skills in canoeing and backpacking. WFR or WFA and lifeguard training are necessary. Glen Brook can provide lifeguard training to all leaders. All wilderness staff have two weeks of training prior to the six week camper season. Preference is given to applicants 21 and over.
Often these jobs can be used as college internships.
