Information about Employment
Summer Employment Opportunties:
Camp Glen Brook has a staff of about 30 people for summer camp. While about 2/3 of our staff return each year, we always have openings for a few instructors, support staff, and/or cabin counselors.
Most staff positions require applicants to be at least 18 years of age. Certain supervisory positions that include driving require applicants to be at least 21 years of age. Previous camp work experience, knowledge of Waldorf education, and/or experience working with children are a plus in consideration.
Most positions are residential with counselors living on campus for one week of staff training (wilderness trip leaders have two weeks of training) and six weeks of camp. Our camp sessions are either three or six weeks long with children staying overnight.
We have openings for staff with the following skills and certifications (if applicable): swim instruction, lifeguards, canoeing and kayaking, archery, arts and crafts, woodworking, nature, ropes course, music and drama, general sports, ceramics, farming and gardening, and wilderness trip leaders.
Often these jobs can be used as college internships.
Winter Employment Opportunities:
Winter camp employs numerous counselors and some kitchen support staff for one week in February. Counselors must have a passion for the outdoors and enjoy introducing campers to activities such as sledding, Nordic skiing, ice-skating, snowshoeing, and snow fort building. Indoor activities like arts and crafts, cooking, and board games round out the day.
Other Employment Opportunities and Internships:
In addition to our residential Land Steward positions, Glen Brook hosts interns for many other programs during the year. Many of these internships are paid
Occasionally Glen Brook has openings for kitchen staff.
